In this post i will be showing you how to develop 
a basic rim wheel in 3d Studio max.
You will be needing a blueprint for of the wheel.
This is the rim i will be developing:

You would find it easier if you use the Front View of 
the wheel to start of with.

Requirements:

3d Studio Max 2012 (older version compatible)
Adobe Photoshop

Welcome again,

In this tutorial I will show you how to solve the registration problem.

Problems:
"Fumefx temporary invalid output path and registration"
"Fumefx Temporary and / or default output path are invalid"
"Unable to register fumefx"
"
[localhost] Trying to connect ...
[localhost] Error connecting to the socket ()
This may be solved by restarting Windows or manually
starting the windows service called DCPFLICS
"

Requirements:
3d Studio Max
Fumefx
Administration Access to your Computer

Lets get started:


Transcript of the Tutorial:"Fumefx Temporary and / or default output path are invalid"
Solution:
To fix this problem firstly
1. Open 3ds max and create a new scene.
2. Create a new fumefx object 
3. Go on the modifier tab and open the Fumfx UI (User interface)
4. When the window open in the 'Gen' tab and Output section 
make sure your 'Output path' has been set. 
5. Set a accessible output path e.g. Documents, Desktop, Pictures etc..
6. Your done :)

"Unable to register fumefx"
[localhost] Trying to connect ...
[localhost] Error connecting to the socket ()
This may be solved by restarting Windows or manually
starting the windows service called DCPFLICS

1. Start by navigating to:
32bit
C:\Program Files\DCPFLICS\

64bit
C:\Program Files (x86)\DCPFLICS

2. Right click on the file called DCPFLICS_tools.exe and run as Administrator. 
3. When the DCPFLICS Tools open Click on Service and choose Install
4. Click on Service again and choose Start
5. Then click the start button and type services.msc then press enter.
6. Scroll down to find DCPFLICS service and right click to choose properties.
7. Make sure the Startup type is set to Automatic and not Manual.
8. Now try to register fumefx and hopefully it should work :)
